Mali is one of the member countries of the Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle (O.A.P.I.) since September 30, 1984. Patent, trademark and design applications at the O.A.P.I. at Yaoundé in the Cameroon Republic cover all countries of the Bangui Agreement. For full particulars, see under “African Intellectual Property Organization“.
It was not possible to keep the trademarks filed before September 1984 alive, and they are now all void. New applications in O.A.P.I. are required to obtain protection rights in Mali.
