Mali is one of the member countries of the Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OAPI) since September 30, 1984. Patent, trademark and design applications at the OAPI at Yaoundé in the Cameroon Republic cover all countries of the Bangui Agreement. It was not possible to keep the trademarks filed before September 1984 alive, and they are now all void. New applications in OAPI are required to obtain protection rights in Mali.
