– Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.
– Geneva Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.
– The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents (Apostille), since April 29, 2001.
– WTO’s TRIPS Agreement, since December 1, 1996.

Protection

Filing: no filing is required, but giving a specific date of the creation is advisable. 

Right to protection: belongs to the author. 

Employee’s software: the right belongs to the employer unless otherwise stipulated. 

Foreigners: the scope of protection of the rights of foreigners is the same as for nationals under the Geneva Convention. 

Originality: not required. 

Territory: the territory of Republic of Bulgaria. 

Duration: seventy years after the death of the author of the computer software or seventy years after the date of disclosure of the work in case the copyright belongs to the employer.
