Second-level domains: .com.es; .nom.es; .org.es; .gob.es; .edu.es 

Applicant: individuals and legal entities. 

Restriction as to nationality – local presence: (1) natural and legal persons and entities that have interests in or maintain ties to Spain, defined as being domiciled, residing or being incorporated in Spain, are entitled to register names in the “.es” domain, along with those who intend to direct services in whole or in part at the Spanish market or those who intend to offer information, goods, or services that are linked to Spanish culture, history or society; (2) allocation of a third-level domain name may be requested as follows: (a) the “.com.es” domain is open to natural or legal persons and entities without legal personality which have interests in or ties to Spain; (b) the “.nom.es” domain is open to natural persons who have interests in or ties to Spain; (c) the “.org.es” domain is open to non-profit entities, institutions, or groups with or without legal personality which have interests in or ties to Spain; (d) the “.gob.es” domain is open to the public administrations of Spain and subsidiary public entities thereof, as well as their subsidiary bodies, organizations, and units; (e) the “.edu.es” domain is open to officially recognized entities, institutions, and groups, with or without legal personality, which perform functions or activities relating to education or research in Spain.

Duration: one to ten years (renewable).

Renewal/maintenance: on the date of the expiry of the domain name.

Dispute about ownership: to be brought before the court.
