Protection

Registration is not required for owners of an original work. Copyright protection is automatic and free from the moment a work is created. However, registration is possible and provides important benefits such as proof of ownership and helps deter infringement. 

Duration: during the lifetime of the author, plus 70 years after the author's death. For anonymous or pseudonymous works: 70 years from publication (if it is clear that 70 years have elapsed since the author's death, 70 years from the author's death). For works attributed to an organization: 70 years from publication (if not published within the 70 years of its creation, 70 years from creation). For cinematographic works: 70 years from publication (if not published within the 70 years of its creation, 70 years from creation).
