Seychelles is made up of a small archipelago in the Indian Ocean, northeast of Madagascar. Its main industries concern the production of coconuts, cinnamon, copra and vanilla. Fishing and tourism are important industries.
Independent from the U.K. since June 29, 1976.
A new Law on Industrial Property came into effect on March 1, 2015 and concerns: patents (inventions), utility models, trade names, trademarks, geographical indications, industrial designs, layout designs of integrated circuits, unfair competition and undisclosed information (trade secrets).
