Uzbekistan used to be a part of the former Soviet Union. The republic declared its independence on September 1, 1991. The State Patent Office of Uzbekistan was established on October 1, 1992, and in July 2011 the Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established, in which the State Patent Office is incorporated. In February 2019, the Agency was transferred to the system of the Ministry of Justice and became known as the Agency on Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Since 2023, the name of the Patent Office is the State Institution “Intellectual Property Center” under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
